About Me

Hey there!
I'm Jess Brooke—aka Jess Sketchy—I'm so happy to meet you here!
About me? I'm a self-taught graphic designer and digital artist currently based in Melbourne, Victoria. For a short while I lived in France and the UK, but I'm originally from a tiny country town to the north of Victoria! I have dabbled in many mediums over the years (painting, textiles and metalwork to name a few), and have now found a love of digital graphic design.
I have a creative passion for bold shapes, big colours and big statements, and love crafting a unique design from scratch, whether for myself or a client. Being self-taught, I'm an inquisitive problem-solver by nature. Speaking of nature, I love getting out in nature and seeing where form, colour and whimsical inspiration can take me.
I have an eclectic mixture of influences and my creative process is somewhat unconventional, open to a myriad of considerations and influences. I am professionally invested in providing a wholistic creative solution, whether that be a fully designed commercial package, a curation of works for gallery submission, or a unique and quirky set of invites for your baby-shower!
I spend most of my time toiling away at design projects and trying out novel approached to art and design, that is when I'm not out enjoying the fresh-roasted brew from my local barista! Coffee please!
Check out my portfolio and DM me if your interested in a commission or collab!
A LIttle Glow Up
To get a little formal, aside from my current portfolio, I've designed content for several web publications, including:
-
The Graphic Journal
-
Side Swipe
-
Egregious Behaviour
I have a creative toolkit that spans a wide range of digital and analogue systems. I'm most comfortable working in the digital world!
I have worked creatively with:
-
The Brighton Side Quest Project
-
Max Vatts Gallery
-
Lone Star Gallery
-
The Flop Festival of Lights
-
Long-winded Publications
-
Effervescent Creatures
I am supportive of the quirky, outside the box concepts and open to new collaborative and creative adventures.
I have designed small-batch and small-run invitations, flyers, posters and event kits, if you have an idea close to your heart that you're not too sure can be manifested - reach out!
Sketchy Details
Check out my Sketchy blog! I am predominantly a visual thinker (that's why I love a little photo gallery), but sometimes I need to embrace the written word.
Here you will find some musings, thoughts, and updates about my current projects and upcoming gallery exhibits!
I'm looking at producing a regular newsletter at the request of my regular followers so they can keep up to date, so please consider subscribing!
xo Jess
